This is an impromptu post. I was not planning to post, but I had to share. I picked up a book I have had for years, and have been avoiding because of what it might lead to. Yesterday, I picked up Richard Foster’s book, “Prayer”. The first quote and the first two paragraphs grabbed hold of my heart and I just had to share them with you. I also heard a song that did the same that I have to share too. I hope you are as touched by them as I am.

“God has graciously allowed me to catch a glimpse into His heart, and I want to share with you what I have seen. Today the heart of God is an open wound of love. He aches over our distance and preoccupation. He mourns that we do not draw near to Him. He grieves that we have forgotten Him. He weeps over our obsession with the muchness and manyness. He longs for our presence.

And He is inviting you, and me, to come home, to come home where we belong, to come home to that for which we were created. His arms are stretched out wide to receive us. His heart is enlarged to take us in.”

~Richard Foster

I love one of the first lines in the song where it says, “When I run to You, It’s like I’m running home.” It matches the above quote. So I ask you. Will you join me in running home?
